Water Quality Monitoring

Water Quality Monitoring

The drinking water quality is checked according to the methods provided by international standards and the drinking features should meet the national legislation in force that is in concordance with requirements of Frame Directive 98/83/EC/1998 of EU Council regarding the drinking water quality; approved and efficient laboratory equipment is used.

The quality of delivered water, the analysis methods, the permitted parameters values and drinking water monitoring program should be in accordance with Law no 458/2002, with subsequently alterations and completions, as well as with sanitary and hygiene norms in force.

The drinking water monitoring purpose is to provide information about:

  • quality of produced and distribute water
  • the efficiency of water treatment technology
  • to keep the drinking water quality within legal values admitted by the law

The water sampling place for analyze to be performed in laboratory is:

  • the connection chamber for drinking and industrial water;
  • the manhole branch for waste water.

Water is the essential and absolutely necessary constituent of human body. The drinking water was, is and will be the most important water.

Compania Apa Brasov S.A. ensures the strict monitoring of drinking water quality that should meet the requirement of sanitary and hygiene norms in force.

Water Treatment Plant Laboratory

The Water Process Laboratory of Water Treatment Plan is structured on three components:

  • Physic and Chemic Tests Laboratory performs full analysis in each phase of treatment technological process, both for raw water and the water resulted after treatment. In this laboratory are performed the following analysis: turbidity, free and total chlorine, residual aluminum, organic substances, temporary and total hardness, oxygen, pH, TDS, conductivity, ammonium, nitrite.
  • Microbiological Tests Laboratory performs full microbiological analysis in all technological process phases. The performed analyses are: total coliforms, fecal coliforms, total streptococci, fecal streptococci fecal and germens.
  • Biological Tests Laboratory performs full biological tests in water treatment phase, required to determine the seston, the phytoplankton and zooplankton quality and quantity determination.

The specific analyses perform in the laboratory are recorded in follow-up registers and are transmitted to Public Health Directorate by the end of each month.

  4. Monitoring Programme for Quality Control for Drinking Water distributed in Brasov Municipality, elaborated yearly in collaboration with Public Health Directorate of Brasov County.

Waste Water Laboratory

Waste Water Laboratory performs physic and chemic tests both for Compania Apa Brasov S.A. (Waste Water Treatment Plant, Poiana Brasov, Rupea, Harman, Sanpetru, Triaj Pumps Station) and trade companies.

The laboratory has increase responsibility to follow-up methodically and fully the quality of waste water discharged by trade companies.

Multiple samples are collected daily and a set of analysis are performed on them. The obligation to check a large number of indicators to monitor the waste water quality is regulated by the documents issued due authorities, namely the Environment Protection Agency and S.G.A. (National Administration “Romanian Waters”, OLT Water Hydrographic Basin Administration, S.G.A. Brasov).
