Brasov City Hall had approved the project to build the water supply on April 1892. The design has been prepared by Eng. Cristian KERTSCH aiming: the catchments of springs from Racadau Valley, transport pipe to Tampa reservoir of 2000 m3, the catchments of springs from Solomon (Schei) Valley, transport pipe and reservoir of 600 m3 located in the area, distribution pipes on the streets and inspection chambers and connection pipes made of lead. As a result of the tendering, the work has been contracted by Pumpel and Nicolas Company, in amount of 400 thousand florins. The works had started on 5th of April 1893. The building with concrete of Tampa Reservoir had started on 12th of September 1893. On 27th of November 1893 were completed the works for catchment of the spring located in Schei and in 11th of December 1893 the first building from Brasov was connected to the new water network. This building was the “Pension House” currently the Transilvania University building. The works to Schei and Tampa Reservoirs were completed on January 1894.

During 1928-1937 were performed the works for catchment of the springs from Ciucas Mountain Foot and were carried out conduits made of cast iron tubes.  The work value was in amount of   25,1 millions RoLei. The sewerage network performed simultaneously meant the spending of  23,3 millions Rolei. 5,3 millions Rolei were spent for new catchment of springs, building of new supply mains and installation of street tapes.

On 1956 thecommunalenterprisehad taken over the Tarlung water source with the view to develop it (doubling of existing sand-cleaning basins, construction of two horizontal settling tanks, building of 4 new filters made of concrete).A new development during 1961–1965 has brought a Water Treatment Plant capacity increase by building of new objectives (hall, two horizontal settling tanks, chlorine station, sulphat station, physical & chemical analyses laboratory).

During 1968-1974 a new development of city’s water networks and dam storage lake to Tarlung – Sacele have been performed.

In 1980-1982 the storage volume has been increased with2,5 mil. m3 and the Water Treatment Plant was supplied from the new built storage. The supply with industrial water from Olt source in Prejmer are was also performed.

On 1985 has started the operation of underground sources. Two pumps station and eight reservoirs were built for this new water supply system. The supply in Schei area was improved by building of a new pumps station in Poiana lui Lupan.

The re-equipping with high efficiency pumps of Harman-Prejmer wells in order to increase the flow was performed during 1993-1996. In connection to this re-equipment two new pumps stations have been carried out to Harman and in Zizin-Brasov area, providing the supply of Noua and Astra Area. The works for Tarlung Sacele Dam Storage over aggradations had led to a capacity increase with more 10 millions m3, providing the supply with water of Sacele and Brasov City. On August 1995 the Company had extended the activity by taking over the supply with water of: Ghimbav, Sanpetru, Harman and Halchiu localities and Poiana Brasov.

On 1997 had started the works to reservoirs: Warthe, Palatul Scolarilor, Pajistei, Dealul Melcilor. The pumps stations Lupan and Tampa were in building stage and Dealul Melcilor pump station was on rehabilitation stage also during this period.

During 1998 had started the modernization and technology upgrade works to Waste Water Treatment Plant and Drinking Water Treatment Plant. The works were completed at the end of  1999.

On 1999 had stated the development and rehabilitation works to sewerage system, works performed within PHARE - „Large Scale Infrastructure Facilities” that has led to settlement of waste water issue in Harman and Sanpetru Localities.

Since 2002 Compania Apa Brasov derived advantage from ISPA. One of these implemented programs are “Drinking Water and Waste Water Treatment in Brasov City and neighboring localities” and had aimed the drinking water treatment and distribution, as well as the collection of waste water.
